Introduction

Design, ergonomics and easy use –all combined with an excellent decoding performance and innovative software configuration distinguish the FireScan. Characteristics that make the FireScan the perfect solution for retail, office automation and small industrial applications where a large read distance (more than 40 cm) and a bright defined scan line is needed.

The laser scan pistol reads all commercial 1D bar codes smoothly. Additionally, the decoder also recognises two dimensional RSS bar codes. The new powerful programming architecture that is used by the FireScan solves even the most complex functions: the Puzzle Solver technology improves decoding for enhanced scanning of badly printed or damaged bar codes, while editing and formatting options allow data adaptation to host applications before data trans­mission. The laser unit’s targeting mode makes easy targeting of the bar codes possible – even at a large distance.

The scan process itself is conveniently activated by the microswitch trigger that is located in the ergonomic grip. A large LED indicator and a programmable acoustic signal notify users of all successful scans.

Like all other hand-held scanners by Datalogic, the FireScan is equipped with a multi-interface that provides RS232, USB and keyboard wedge in all standard versions. In order to adapt to existing customer systems, simply order the required interface cables, connect them and reconfigure the scanners. The multi-interface makes the FireScan a reliable investment for your customer: future system changes do not require a new set of scanners – only the cables need to be replaced. Even on-site Firmware upgrades are made easy with the FireScan: internal programming of the laser pistol is easily upgraded with the free Sm@rt Setprogramming software. Sm@rt Set is also used for all remaining programming tasks like the above men­tioned editing and formatting options, or basic settings for readable bar codes, indicator signals, languages and more.

The FireScan is well prepared for demanding tasks – its robust housing made of impact-resistant ABS plastic survives even repeated falls off the table without difficulty. Extensive accessories offer flexibility during installation and help you to fulfill all customer requirements.
