Introduction

The sturdy Kyman hand-held terminal is the new key element in the Datalogic mobile product family that focuses on automation for field work and logistics. The low weight combined with an ergonomic design herald a new generation of devices.

The device is equipped with the latest system architecture and technology. It is based on a powerful combination of the Intel X-Scale microprocessor and the Windows CE operating system. 64MB RAM and 64MB flash memory guarantee safe user and application data and easy upgrades at any time. Accordingly, this terminal is ready equipped for future requirements of demanding users, though conventional text-based and web-based applications are supported as well. The Kyman is available in various keypad versions and de­signs for individual customers needs on request.

With optionally integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or GSM/GPRS adaptors,­ the Kyman not only demonstrates unmatched communication capabilities, but also very high reliability and stability compared to other devices in its class. Another advantage for your customers: all Datalogic Mobile devices with preinstalled Windows come with VoIP capability for Wi-Fi. In other words, you can use it as a mobile phone as well. With an integrated speaker and microphone, users only need a single device for full-featured operation. High reliability for long-term use of the Kyman is not only guaranteed by its excellent design, but also by a protective film on the touch screen that is standard for all Datalogic MDE devices. If the touch screen has too many scratches, you only have to replace the film at almost no extra cost. The IP64 certification testifies to its durability. The robust housing with an impact protective cover is designed for use under harsh conditions: it can even withstand extreme impacts (such as repeated drops of 1.5 m in tests) without impairing scanning performance. With its aggressive, integrated laser scanner, the Kyman reads bar codes (1D and 2D, RFID-HF-ISO tags and pictures) fully automatically and transmits the information instantly over the optional Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or GPRS interface.

The Datalogic Kyman gives users exactly what they need in everyday work: reliability, a robust and impact-resistant housing, long-life rechargeable batteries, flexible communication and highly efficient data collection. In order to optimise mobile applications, a new freely accessible slot for memory cards (Mini SD) was added that makes data backup, extended databases, etc. easily available.
