Introduction

A sturdy design and high-grade materials make the PowerScan one of the most robust and reliable scanners for bar code reading. Its excellent price-performance-ratio and a wide range of models and interfaces make these devices unique among other industry scanners on the market. Many renowned companies in transport and logistics or the manufacturing industry have been using the PowerScan successfully for years due to its robustness, as well as its unrivalled scanning range and flexible connectivity options.

Extra long range for industrial use
Wired PowerScan models are available that are custom-tailored in various scanner versions: the SRI standard model features a high-resolution CMOS camera that reads all commercial bar codes (1D) and labels with a resolution of 752x480 pixels at an unrivaled 500 scans per second and then decodes all information fully automatically. A green guide beam diode supports user orientation. A special version of this wired scanner model incorporates a 2D HD imager that also reads all commercial two-dimensional bar codes. The Datalogic standard 2D reader is available either for USB, RS232 or keyboard wedge.

PowerScan LR and XLR were designed to meet special requirements in industry and logistics. These laser scanners read bar codes at a distance of up to 11 metres. All applications that require bar code data collection over large distances can always rely on PowerScan devices to read labels on normal and reflective paper quickly and reliably.

With the Bluetooth version, 1D and 2D bar codes are scanned via the standard range imager and transmitted at a range of up to 100 m (Bluetooth Class I). The optional docking station is available in two interface versions (RS232 or keyboard wedge). If needed, the Bluetooth imager also communicates with other BT devices or integrates seamlessly into any Bluetooth network. The powerful NiMH battery guarantees up to eight hours of cable-less operation – the corresponding charging unit is included in the delivery.

Reliability – even under harsh conditions
Its unbeaten performance in everyday use has made the PowerScan the first choice for many years. Not only has it been successfully applied in stocktaking and logistics, but also in harsh conditions in production and manufacturing. The PowerScan is a professional scanner that is protected against dust and water splashes according to the IP65 standard.

Its rubber-jacketed housing is constructed from ABS plastic and survives even drops from a height of two metres. Its sealing has yet to be surpassed by other portable bar code scanners on the market. Weather conditions are no issue either – PowerScan LR and XLR devices work within a temperature range of -30°C to +50°C

Easy configuration and professional tools
An integrated micro-controller helps to configure PowerScan devices individually to meet customer requirements: for example, one of the many practical possibilities include the adjustable buzzer and the optional integrated pointer for target-oriented data collection over long ranges. A low weight combined with compact design and intelligent tools contribute to the exceptional ergonomics, in addition to the included "QuadraLogic" decoding software. This allows users to scan even dirty, smudgy or damaged bar codes that are unreadable by most scanners. In particular in industrial applications users have to regularly work with damaged or weakened bar code labels. However, most handheld scanners are not capable of scanning such labels successfully. On the other hand, the PowerScan scans bar codes using a four-phased pattern and interprets them with a special algorithm.
