Introduction

.The system architecture of the Skorpio-Gun combines a fast Intel X-Scale CPU (312MHz, 128MB RAM) with the professional "slim" version of the Windows CE 5.0 or optionally the WM 6.1 operating systems. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) for wireless communication permit high transfer rates and seamless communication with any existing customer system. Meanwhile, the modern WPA and WPA2 security protocols protect the data from unauthorised access.

The Skorpio-Gun version is available in four different variants (see illustration): the standard laser scanner gives the advantage of the patented "Green Spot" feature that places read confirms clearly visible onto the bar code itself. In this way, successful reads are confirmed easily even in noisy environments. The standard version reads at a distance of 5 to 90 cm for 40mil code. The long range laser scanner reads 40 mil codes at a distance of 20 to 200 cm. These scanners also read reflective labels at long distance. The long range option makes the Skorpio the best scanner of its class and gives you an enormous competitive advantage.

The Datalogic Skorpio-Gun is equipped with a clearly visible colour display (240x320 pixels) and a scratch-resistant protective coating. The 8.9cm (3.5'') touch display can be used for user input as well as the practical alphanumeric keypad with 38 keys.

The Skorpio now also is available as a 28-key version with enlarged number keys for a better handling. In order to enhance concentration and minimise errors, a film is supplied with which letters and symbols printed on the keys can be hidden.

This scanner gun is fully capable of classical terminal applications with DL-TCL-NET software clients. This very modern web-based solution uses the Microsoft Internet Explorer with a DL locked browser applet. Developers use MCL Collection to programme single or multiple data collection solutions in only a short time, while Wavelink Avalanche offers centralised remote management, configuration, synchronisation or firmware updates for all portable data collection devices.

A low, balanced weight that is compact yet robust as well as the latest hardware, software and wireless technology are the essential characteristics that make the Skorpio-Gun a pioneer in the field of mobile data collection. Derived from the successful Datalogic Gryphon, it has the most comfortable grip and trigger that can be found in warehouse management applications. Its universal shape guarantees perfect handling, even with gloves. It was especially designed­ for work-intensive applications and excels at simple carrying and improved transmitting capabilities.

Protection against drops from 1.5 m height and IP64 compliant protection against water and dust make this scanner the best of its kind and the perfect choice for harsh environments. The wide temperature range also allow applications outdoors as well as indoors

The Datalogic Skorpio-Gun is equipped with lithium-ion batteries that guarantee a high grade of independence for communication, or while collecting and processing data. The battery can be changed within seconds without having to physically switch off the device. During a battery change, all data is safely buffered for up to two minutes.
