Introduction

The Datalogic Skorpio is a portable and robust computer with touch screen and Windows CE that is especially designed for retail solutions in sales as well as warehouses. Its ergonomic design minimizes the user’s fatigue like no other comparable device on the market. Rough working conditions, heavy impacts and vibrations cannot impair the Skorpio’s reliability due to its robust design.

Its system architecture is based on a powerful combination of the Intel X-Scale microprocessor and the latest Windows CE operating system. 64MB RAM and 64MB Flash memory guarantee safe user and application data, and easy upgrades at any time. An integrated backup battery helps to save all scanned data for 20 minutes during power failures. The Skorpio also features a memory extension slot for mini SD cards. This makes the use of memory-intensive applications possible and guarantees easy data exchange. Furthermore, the Skorpio is equipped with a bright colour display and a touch screen that offers an enormously good viewing angle for effective and ergonomic work. In addition to the touch screen, the keypad with 38 rubber keys speeds up input of data, codes and other details. Starting immediately the Skorpio is also available with a simplified numeric keyboard of 28 keys. The enlarged numeric keys ensure easier operation and a foil, optionally included in the delivery, covers up the standard printed letters and numbers, guarantying a focused numeric entry and minimising errors.

Seamless connection to wireless networks is available through an integrated optional Wi-Fi interface. Use the Skorpio to realise real-time applications in warehouse and distribution systems, for direct database access or integration of ERP systems. All this is done with standard tools. If you choose the Bluetooth version, even basic wireless communication to other devices like portable label printers, mobile phones or Bluetooth access points is made easy.

The Datalogic Skorpio supports all conventional text-based data collection applications as well as current web-based graphical solutions. Programmers develop simple applications for mobile data collection as well as complicated ones with MCL collection. IT managers find only praise for this easy centralised device management. The Wavelink Avalanche software is used for remote administration, software synchronization and firmware upgrade or driver updates.

A lithium-ion battery guarantees a long mobile operating time. The standard Skorpio includes a rechargeable battery and a belt clip.
