Introduction

The new scan pistol 6690IR is our first CCD handheld scanner for infrared bar codes in our product range. It it meant to scan unforge­able IR bar codes. The scanner’s CMOS camera is highly aggressive and extremely fast: pictures are scanned completely at a stunning 200 scans per second and then internally decoded in only a fraction of a second. The high-quality CMOS camera makes the CCD scanner even faster than most laser scanners. It is this high scan performance that gives the scanner high reliability and efficiency with all bar code applications.

Whether it’s a normal or an IR bar code, the 6690IR scans all commercial bar codes like EAN, Codabar, Code 39, 128, etc. Infrared bar codes are mainly used for security applications. They are covered with a greyish-black film that is impenetrable to visible light. This means the bar code is not visible to the eye and can neither be copied nor read with a normal scanner. Their distinct security features make IR bar codes insusceptible to tampering. For this reason, IR bar codes enjoy increasing popularity, especially for top-grade goods or exclusive materials. As IR bar codes provide adequate copy protection for tickets, they are also favoured by organisers of large events

The device is manufactured from high-quality materials only, and excels with a distinguished design and excellent work ergonomics. A sturdy ABS plastic housing ensures that the device can even withstand repeated drops onto concrete from a height of one metre without damage. The trigger lasts endures more than one million operations without showing any signs of wear. Connect the device to a computer using a keyboard wedge, or a serial or USB interface. Existing systems can be integrated seamlessly without the need of software recalibration. Please do not forget to add the required connection cable to your order. For serial applications with the cable you also must order the external power supply to put on the serial cable.
