Introduction
The Honeywell IS1650 is a versatile area imager scan engine enclosed by an extremely sturdy housing. The IS1650 decodes 1D and 2D bar codes and allows even inexperienced users to conveniently scan with just one hand, as the omni-directional field of view makes alignment of the bar codes unnecessary
The absence of moving parts makes the IS1650 exceptionally robust, while its compact size is perfectly suited for information terminals or other self-service applications. The IS1650 is equipped with a CMOS sensor and an extremely powerful processor as well as Honeywell’s First Flash technology. This allows the device to read the bar code the first time the LED flashes and also provides enhanced ergonomics.
Various functions guarantee efficient scans: the integrated bar code sensor recognises labels within the scan area automatically and activates itself. Additionally, the IS1650 employs a special decoding software developed by Omniplanar, a Honeywell subsidiary, which allows effortless scanning of low quality bar codes. The integrated CodeSelect technology allows users to scan up to seven bar codes at once. The output order of the scanned bar codes can be programmed into the unit. For immediate data transfer to the host, users simply press the CodeGate button on the side of the device. This function helps to ensure that only the desired data is sent to the host.
The scan engine can be used for OEM applications as well as at the POS in combination with an optionally available stand. The scan engine is both flexible and ergonomic. Users simply move the bar code along the omni-directional scan area or remove the device from its holder to scan bulky products.
